The St'ates will be giving a house concert at the As Radical as Reality Itself series at Danny Yeager's place (1211 Haley Place in College Station) on Sunday, March 28 at 2 PM. Doors will open at 1:30. It's $10 -$20 sliding scale (pay what you can) with children free. All proceeds go to the performers. BYOB and bring a snack to share. touchst@cy-net.net or (979) 777-8758 for more info.

BTW -- Martin and Janie both  remind me of one of my heroes -- the great peace and social justice activist Philip Berigan who my son (Philip Martin Che Yeager) is named after.

Thanks also to Mike Alvard for running the board during the show.

It should be a great show. Tune in if you have a chance.

"I can't say enough about Janie Stein and Martin Bates, our talented musicians for the morning who drew the crowds and vendors in singing along. In town through May, we've asked them to return and play any Saturday they wish." From Friends of the Brazos Valley Farmers' Market blog (http://fbvfm.blogspot.com/).

Janie Stein and Martin Bates are "The States."

Married in 2005, they like to say they are “a kinder and gentler united St’ates.”  This duo currently resides on the road in their mini motorhome, playing as they travel.  The St’ates have played farmers' markets and coffee houses in Colorado, Arizona, Iowa, Kansas, Alabama, Georgia, Bryan, Texas, Northern New York State, and even Canada.  Both have written songs about life, peace, and family.

Here’s what John Berbrich of 4th Coast Entertainment Magazine wrote in a recent review, The St’ates have that typical real American Folk sound, with good harmonies and careful lead guitar,…..” The St’ates also perform folk songs that they've gathered into their repertoire of thoughtful and fun music over the years.
